How remarkable is this promise, “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people”? This a promise of salvation and sanctification. This is a promise that satisfies and fulfills the desires of the heart. This promise is so much better than today’s “do-whatever-makes-you-happy” culture. The more people focus on happiness; the more they are led astray by the substitutes and shortcuts.
Lastly, the word “Joy” occurs 218 times in the Bible, but the word happy or happiness only occurs 28 times in the Bible.
