God defined His goodness by gifts. Second Corinthians says it this way, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” In addition to Jesus, God gave us the Holy Spirit and all the gifts of the Spirit. God is known for His provision and generosity.
Since God is known by His gifts, we also want to be known by our gifts. It’s our goal to be known as a generous people, but not just financially. This signature truth is about surprise gifts, spontaneous gifts, and super gifts. We want people to know us by our thoughtful, creative, and abundant gifts. Therefore, we will be people who are always looking for bigger and better ways to be a blessing.
The gift of important words cannot be overlooked in this signature truth. In many respects, our identity is shaped by powerful words, both positive and negative. Words are rarely neutral – they build us up or tear us down. It’s absolutely essential for the people of love to be known by words of love. That’s why we want the people of One City to be known by five primary phrases that we call The Most Important Words in the World.
- Jesus.
- Thank you.
- I love you.
- I believe in you.
- I am proud of you.
If our words are like seeds, what is the cumulative effect of planting these words in the soil of people’s souls? We believe it’s a 100-fold harvest.
