We are Committed to a Priority Time

Speaker: Chris Conlee

Bible Passage: James 4:8

Some people call their devotional time a “quiet time,” but at One City we call it a priority time for two primary reasons:

  1. God isn’t quiet.
  2. It’s the one priority that determines all other priorities.

A priority time is a daily, unhurried, inspired time to read the Word of God to know the God of the Word. The purpose of a priority time isn’t Bible study alone; it is relational intimacy through His presence and prayer. When God is the focus of our morning, it’s much easier for Him to be the focus of our day and night.

A priority time isn’t a spiritual check in the box, either. It’s the beginning of an all-consuming, passionate, relentless pursuit of God. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
